Bella Colla, British Columbia, British Columbia

    Rate it!

The most experienced heliskiing operation in Bella Coola, with 2 million acres of BIG Mountain Heliskiing and boarding. The easiest and quickest access - a scenic 1 hr and 15 minute flight from Vancouver. We added Pantheon Helisports and .5 million acres to our already huge terrain. Guests can heliski/board the day they arrive and the day they depart! Our strength is high alpine terrain and majestic scenery with jagged rock towers, giant glacier bowls, and steep couloirs, crowned by enormous peaks. The terrain offers up a huge variety of options for all weather conditions!

    Hours of Operation

The colder temperatures in January and February generally produces better powder but even early April has shown us some fantastic powder skiing.

    Region/Mountain Range

The Bella Coola valley is located approximately 400 kilometres north of Vancouver, in the Coast Range of British Columbia. This is the most rugged and inaccessible of all regions in British Columbia, unless you have a trusty helicopter that is? Here, there is no need to "farm" snow.

We are fortunate to have acquired 1.5 million acres (5,700 sq/km) of pristine and untouched BC wilderness. This is more than 200 times larger than the combined skiing area of Whistler/Blackcomb Resort. Our strength lies in high alpine terrain and majestic scenery with jagged rock towers, giant glacier bowls, and steep couloirs crowned by enormous peaks.

    Guides

Bella Coola Heli Sports is regulated to exacting standards by Helicat Canada and is dedicated to providing the ultimate heliskiing holiday in as safe a manner as possible. This is the most comprehensive guideline in the world related to helisports.

BCHS employs guides that are keen, ready to rip it up, and able to push you to the edge of your  comfort zone. Nevertheless, safety will be paramount. All guides are chosen based on their qualifications and guiding skills, as well as outgoing personalities. They are all professionals with a lifelong dedication to their profession. All guides are members of the ACMG/UIAGM (Canadian and International Association of Mountain Guides) and/or the Canadian Ski Guides Association (CSGA).

    Equipment/Heli/Cat:

Our guests are flown in A Star B2 helicopters. This is the machine of choice for small heliskiing Heli Skiinggroups.  Its maneuverability and exceptional power, allows the greatest degree of flexibility in choosing landings zones, which in turn means skiing the best runs. In addition to the pilot, this machine flies a maximum of five clients and a guide.

West Coast Helicopter's pilots and machines are regulated to exacting standards by Transport Canada, the governing body for all aviation in Canada. Furthermore, your pilot has undergone specialized training related to the helicopter sports industry.

Helicopter maintenance and check-up is done on a daily basis by a team of professional engineers. Overnight storage of the helicopter is in a hangar, improving both the reliability and quality of maintenance. All pilots are trained in medical first aid and mountain rescue procedures.

    Typical Packages:

Private and Semi Private Tours: 3, 4, & 7-Day Vertical Tours. Springs & Corn Tours. Big Mountain Heliskiing Tours (our newest tour) offers more heliskiing and boarding for your dollar. If you can afford to go snow cat skiing you cannot afford to the opportunity to go BIG Mountain Heliskiing. The only difference is a guest house style of accommodations and dinners are not included. At high season these tours are 1900 less than the tours based out of the Tweedsmuir Park Lodge.
