You're standing on the roof of the world, surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. The views of the Rockies, plus the Monashees and Selkirks on the horizon are absolutely breathtaking. A million acres of deep, dry, Rocky Mountains powder lie beneath your feet and all around - waiting for just you, your three companions and your guide.

Floating in waist-deep powder, you ride down a sea of pure virgin snow, grinning from ear to ear. A thousand metres down and you're in the trees. Riding in the trees the snow is just as deep, sheltered from wind or sun - unbelievable! Another thousand metres – and you spot your helicopter sitting in the snow, waiting to fly your small group to yet another run in boarding paradise.

Heli-boarding with Mica Heliskiing is the best riding you could ever imagine. Maybe it's beyond imagining - come and find out!

    Hours of Operation

    Opening Date: December 2007
    Closing Date: April 2008

    Region/Mountain Range

Mica Heliskiing' terrain covers 4,700 square kilometres (more than 1,800 square miles) on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia, Canada. This spectacular terrain lies near the northern end of the Rocky Mountain Trench, running alongside Jasper National Park and the Columbia Ice Fields to the east, and lying opposite the Monashee and Selkirk mountain ranges to the west, across the massive Kinbasket Reservoir.

Mice Heli Guides offers an incredible variety of terrain, from the level of beginning powder skiers to slopes that will excite the true expert. There is plenty for everyone! We operate in seven drainages or valleys, each with its own character and terrain style, each contributing to a diverse skiing or boarding experience. Our tenure contains 470,000 hectares (more than 1 million acres) of spectacular peaks, huge alpine cirques and bowls, massive glaciated runs, with 50 percent of our terrain being steep tree runs.

Mica Heliskiing has the goods - any terrain you desire and as much of it as you wish. Combine the greatest terrain on Earth with 12-18 metres per year (40-60 feet) of dry, light, Rocky Mountains powder and the result is absolutely the best skiing and boarding on the planet.

    Guides

The guides at Mica Heli are both experienced mountaineers and professionally trained and certified guides and they bring a wealth of mountain guiding experience from around the world. Moreover, they love spending time skiing and climbing in the mountains and they very much enjoy sharing these experiences with you! As professional guides they make every effort to provide you with a safe and enjoyable experience. The guides at Mica Heli take part in regular and ongoing refresher courses and training sessions including hazard recognition and management and emergency response. Each of our guides meets or exceeds the requirements of 'a guide' as set by Helicat Canada guidelines and have been trained and certified by the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides and/or are members of the International Federation of Mountain Guides.

    Equipment/Heli/Cat:

Mica Heli works directly with Arrow Helicopters to provide a professional standard of mountain helicopter travel. We use A-Star, six seat helicopters, with room for the pilot, the guide, and four skiers. The majority of our flying is done by either Arrow Helicopter's Owner and Chief Pilot, Matthew Callaghan, or Arrow's Operations Manager Trevor Mitchell. Both are experienced mountain pilots and are specially trained for this environment. Our aircraft are serviced by full-time licensed aircraft maintenance engineers and are maintained to standards that meet or exceed Ministry of Transport regulations.

    Typical Packages:

Mica Heliskiing provides 100 percent small-group heliskiing and heliboarding (snow boarding). When you book your trip with Mica Heliskiing you ski or board in a group of four guests plus one guide in an A-Star helicopter, the industry standard for private tours. Fast and highly mobile, your small group can heliski or heliboard a wider variety of terrain tailored to your desires (conditions and ability permitting). We have a million acres of Canadian heli skiing and heliboarding terrain, all for you and three companions!

Mica Lodge has a maximum capacity of 12 guests. While the A-Star helicopter can easily manage up to four groups, we only ski three groups of four guests creating a private group heliskiing experience when you book as a group of four, eight or twelve.

Mica Heliskiing runs tour packages for three, four, six and seven days. Our operating season starts Dec 15th and ends April 30th. High season is Jan 13-March 28th 2007. We offer discounts for groups of twelve guests. We have special tour dates for single heli-skiers, family heliskiing and snow boarding (Christmas and spring break), New Years and our Girl-Ski tour for women only.
